ART AGAINST VIOLENCE ON WOMEN

On Saturday, 11 March, 2023 the “Aperitivi in Danza” Festival celebrates the International Women’s Day

A very special edition of the “Aperitivi in Danza” Festival, as part of the “Cartellone Provinciale 8 Marzo”. Organized by MOTUS with the collaboration of Atelier Vantaggio Donna and Movimento Pansessuale ArciGay Siena, the event will be exceptionally held on Saturday, in order to make it possible for all women to participate.

The event starts at 8.30 p.m with the opening of “OTHER SIDE“, exhibition of the works created by the young visual artist Greta Sartarelli, graduated at the IED. The exhibition combines her passion for graphic design and photography, at times joining the two and creating extremely original and unique artworks. The aim of the exhibition is, according to the artist, that of “a journey on the other side, the one free and absent from judgments. The side that isn’t affected by changing times, never asking itself what beauty and ugliness are. The side which feels, without necessarily needing to understand nor explain. The side that traces and does not delete… at least not with an eraser. A monologue by the soul, for the soul”.

Greta Sartarelli is also the President of the association Movimento Pansessuale ArciGay Siena.

After the opening of the exhibition, Albalisa Sampieri and the MOTUS Company will join on stage for a semi-serious retelling of the history of a symbolic woman, Lucrezia, daughter of Spurio Lucrezio Tricipitino and wife of Collatino, a mitical figure of Ancient Rome linked to the exile of Tarquinio Il Superbio, the last King of Rome.

The show, named “Lucrezia e le altre“, develops starting from Martina Agricoli’s poetic choreographies, performed by Roberta Morello (Lucrezia) and Mattia Solano (Collatino), interrupted by Albalisa Sampieri, underlining prejudices and clichés. As it’s known, Lucrezia, mentioned also in the Divina Commedia, was raped by Sesto Tarquinio, her husband’s – Collatino – friend. To prove her innocence to her husband and family, she decided to kill herself, stabbing herself with a knife. Therefore, Lucrezia is the symbol of the gender-based violence that is firstly perpetrated by the rapist and then by court’s judges, who have to make sure of the presumed consent by the woman during the assault.

Albalisa Sampieri is well know for her political engagement, combining two of her profound passions: women’s politics and theatre. Leading representative of Atelier Vantaggio Donna, she combines her activities in project managing, teaching and research activities, with her role of actress and director, creating a mix that is especially efficient in communicating the increasing results reached through the Association’s project.

Tickets: € 10 (reduced: € 8).

During the event as usual, a buffet will be offered, to facilitate the interaction between audience and artists in a convivial atmosphere.
