Music, Dance, Circus, Theatre, food and much more at Isola d’Arbia

On Sunday, June 18th, starting from 7.00 pm, the Isola d’Arbia district will come together for a great celebration open to the entire community, thanks to the “No one is an island” project promoted by Badabam ASD, Circolo A.C.L.I. Liberarte, MOTUS A.C. APS, supported by the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation as part of the RESET program (2022).
The project was created with the aim of contributing to the social renovation of the Isola d’Arbia neighborhood using artistic and creative tools. It evolved over time through a participatory community activation process aimed at promoting social integration, in collaboration with project partners: Arciconfraternita di Misericordia di Siena ODV, Associazione Sobborghi Impresa Sociale, Alioth Soc. Coop. ONLUS (C.A.G. Isola d’Arbia), Centro di Quartiere Isola d’Arbia. After an initial listening phase involving project proponents, partners, and neighborhood residents, the project moved to the community empowerment and co-design phase. This involved identifying content and methods for the realization of the final event. During the community activation phase, various on-site activities were implemented to generate interest and engage residents. Workshops in music, theater, storytelling, and circus for children and teenagers alternated with movement and gentle gymnastics workshops for the female population. There were also performative incursions of music, circus, and dance. All these activities facilitated a process of knowledge-sharing and experience exchange, planting a seed for further developments that could continue even after the project’s conclusion.
The festival, with patronage of Siena Municipality, is a free and playful event hosting various artistic performances, including music, dance, circus, and theater. It aims to capture the interest not only of the neighborhood residents but also to attract citizens from all areas of Siena city. Before the start of the performances in the afternoon, there are activities for children, conceived by the resident citizens during the co-design process, including “Recycling Tales,” a team game where kids can invent imaginative stories about Isola d’Arbia, interpreting them with the help of costumes and objects donated by the resident people.
Throughout the event, free food and drinks prepared by the Misericordia di Siena – Isola d’Arbia Section – are offered to all .
