New event of the ‘Aperitivi in Danza’ (Aperitifs in Dance) series at the International Center of Art.

On Thursday, November 16 at 8:30 PM, the new event of the ‘Aperitivi in Danza’ series, organized by MOTUS at the International Center of Art (Via Mencattelli 5/7, Siena, Italy) features the photographic exhibition ‘Nel silenzio’ (In Silence) by Cinzia Iovine and the contemporary dance performance ‘Not in my name’ a work-in-progress by the MOTUS Company. Cinzia Iovine, a photographer from Siena, born in 1982, started about ten years ago capturing images simply out of passion, delving into an aesthetic and compositional exploration of the image, placing significant importance on the subject and the meaning of each individual shot.
In the exhibition ‘Nel silenzio’ (In Silence), the author recalls the slow attempt to return to everyday life after the pandemic lockdown. She describes the still persistent silence of certain places where lines are sharp, geometrically perfect. Lines enclosing an area that is physically and internally empty, with soft colors, uniform tones, and few figures. The human presence, a symbol for life re-emerging to the world, softens the decisive and artificial cuts that envelop natural spaces. Calm and restlessness, a no-man-land where distinguishing life becomes difficult. The photos depict a state of semi-consciousness, where familiar places take on a different aspect that goes beyond the tangibility of things, an daydream whose origin can not be explained.
After the vernissage, the MOTUS Company presents the performance ‘Not in my name,’ a work-in-progress aimed to stimulate reflection on recent conflicts in the Middle East. It is a cry of alarm and protest against war, or rather, against all wars, that cannot and should not be carried on under the pretext of building peace. ‘The right war does not exist,’ said Gino Strada, and by endorsing this statement, MOTUS calls for an end to the ongoing massacres in the name of citizens who ‘repudiate war,’ as the Italian Constitution declares.
During the evening a buffet is offered, allowing the audience to meet the artists in a friendly atmosphere.
The ticket price is 10 euros (reduced 8 euros), reservations are recommended.
