On Saturday, March 1st the “Aperitivi in danza” by MOTUS celebrates the International Women’s Day
A special event of the “Aperitivi in danza” Festival, organized by MOTUS in collaboration with Atelier Vantaggio Donna, to celebrate through the arts the International Women’s Day. The event will take place on Saturday, March 1st, at the Centro Internazionale d’Arte (Via Mencattelli 5/7, Siena), hosting different artistic expression and different generations, in a convivial atmosphere.
Ther event starts at 6:00 pm with the opening of the exhibition “Sentinella di futuro“, by the artist Maria Mansueto. The exhibition takes its name from a work exhibited also at the Biennale di Venezia 2024. The work celebrates the feminine and the motherhood, the woman as guardian and sentinel of future. In the words of the artist: “Immersed in the close relationship with nature, in its vital relations, the woman generates unity and bridges between singular and plural, between individual and universal. It regenerates itself in a process that transcends her and amplifies herself to involve all women, to regenerate the whole of humanity and lead it towards a new humanism. Thus the birth of his creature becomes birth of Life, birth of Peace”.
Graduated in Pedagogy, Maria Mansueto cultivated her passion for art while working as a teacher , partecipating in collectives exhibition in Italy and abroad (such as Universal Expo in Dubai 2020, 5⁰ Esposizione Triennale di Arti visive at the Musei di San Salvatore in Lauro del Pio Sodalizio dei Piceni 2023, Biennale di Venezia 2024).
After the opening of the exhibition, the recital “La moglie del mondo” by Albalisa Sampieri. The recital is inspired by Carol Ann Duffy, a Scottish poet, nominated several times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. In 1999 Carol Ann Duffy wrote The World’s Wife, a collection of 30 poems whose protagonists are real or imaginary women. They are the wives of famous men, like Mrs Pilate, or they are traditionally defined by their men, like Eurydice. Or they are the imaginary heroines of stories whose protagonists are male, like the sister of Elvis Presley. In short, they are “the wives of the world”, who claim, with irony and sense of the ridiculous, a legitimate place in the history, by reconstructing the facts on their side: a HER-story.
Albalisa Sampieri is well know for her political engagement, combining two of her profound passions: women’s politics and theatre. Leading representative of Atelier Vantaggio Donna, she combines her activities in project managing, teaching and research activities, with her role of actress and director, creating a mix that is especially efficient in communicating the increasing results reached through the Association’s project.
The words of Albalisa Sampieri are joined by the notes of three talented young musicians: Caterina Cocco (guitar), Valentina Marino (drums) and Maite Porciani (bass).
During the event as usual, a buffet will be offered, to facilitate the interaction between audience and artists in a convivial atmosphere.
Tickets: € 10 (reduced: € 8).
