CELEBRATE THE TUSCAN GENIUS AT PALAZZO CORBOLI
“Movimenti Geniali” is a MOTUS project, in collaboration with Comune di Asciano, Museo Palazzo Corboli and Fondazione Musei Senesi, under the patronage of Dipartimenti di Scienze Storiche e dei Beni Culturali of the Università degli Studi di Siena, with the support of Consiglio Regionale della Toscana, to celebrate the Festa della Toscana.
The project combines the art of the past with contemporary creation to celebrate the artistic genius of Tuscany.
Italy’s fame in the world is due in large part to the contribution of Tuscany, which has played a crucial role in shaping the country’s identity, making it a worldwide reference point for art, culture and science. Many personalities who, over the centuries have contributed to the creation of a better world, through all forms of human thought, are Tuscan, from Leonardo to Michelangelo, from Brunelleschi to Galileo.
The entire territory of the region, even in the smallest towns, is dotted with historical-architectural-artistic emergencies that testify to this incredible development of Tuscan excellence and that can be enhanced through contemporary arts. An example is the Museo Civico Archeologico e d’Arte Sacra Palazzo Corboli in Asciano, a rare example of medieval palatium, which houses works by major Sienese artists from the thirteenth to seventeenth century, including Sano di Pietro, Ambrogio Lorenzetti and Taddeo di Bartolo. Palazzo Corboli is a treasure trove of unique artworks of rare beauty and, for this reason, the project “Movimenti Geniali” has chosen it as the focus of the artistic action that will take place from 4:00 pm on March 15th.
The first event is a public meeting to which have been invited regional institutions (Eugenio Giani, President of the Regione Toscana – Cristina Giachi, President of the Quinta Commissione of the Consiglio Regionale della Toscana – Antonio Mazzeo, President of the Consiglio Regionale della Toscana), city institutions (Fabrizio Nucci, Mayor, and Enrica Ercoli, Assessor for Culture, of the Municipality of Asciano) and art experts such as Cristiano Leone (President of Fondazione Santa Maria della Scala) Elisa Rubegni (Director of the Museum of Palazzo Corboli) Alessandro Ricceri (President of the Fondazione Musei Senesi) Stefania Onesti (Professor of History of Theatre and History of Dance, University of Siena).
At the end of the public meeting, around 17.45, the dance of the MOTUS Company and the live music of the composer Andrea Rellini will merge in the site-specific show “Movimenti Geniali” in which the expressive power of choreographic movements interacts with the emotional depth of cello notes. Thus a contemporary artistic dialogue with the masterpieces of the Museum is born, which evokes the Tuscan genius and innovation, central themes of the itinerant performance through the rooms to discover the hidden treasures of Palazzo Corboli.
At approximately 18:30, all participants will be offered an aperitif, followed by a guided tour of the Museum.
Free admission.
