On Mother’s Day, Move Off starts again at the Alfieri Theatre in Castelnuovo

In May the 2022 edition of the Move Off International contemporary dance Festival, organized by MOTUS in collaboration with Castelnuovo Berardenga Municipality

From 8 to 31 May the “Move Off” Contemporary Dance Festival, directed by the MOTUS Company, and organized in collaboration with Castelnuovo Berardenga Municipality, with the support of ChiantiBanca, is going to be back on stage at the Vittorio Alfieri Municipal Theater in Castelnuovo Berardenga .

The program opens on Sunday 8 May at 18:00 with the show “Il brutto anatroccolo” by the Atacama Company with choreography by Patrizia Cavola and Ivan Truol. A special afternoon event for adults and children, offering a new way to celebrate “Mother’s Day” with a reduced ticket of € 5 for children and their mothers with the “Celebrate mum at the theater” initiative.

The show is inspired by the fairy tale “The Ugly Duckling” by Hans Christian Andersen, which focuses on the concepts of diversity, acceptance of oneself and others, fears and vulnerability, on the value inherent in every human being.

“A very current work – explains the Chilean choreographer Ivan Truol – because it tells about the migration and the journey that who is marginalized or persecuted and decides to look for their own place in the world is forced to undertake”. But not only. “History helps us to focus on the fact that being different can represent a wealth – adds the choreographer Patrizia Cavola – and that, through a process of transformation, our nature can emerge in all its beauty and originality”.

The show, with original music by Epsilon Indi and costumes by Medea Labate and Arianna Pioppi, is performed by Nicholas Baffoni, Valeria Loprieno, Cristina Meloro, Camilla Perugini, and is produced by Atacama with the support of MIBACT Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali e del Turismo -Dipartimento Dello Spettacolo.

The subsequent “Move Off” appointments will instead take place at 9.30 pm, offering 2 shows per evening.
