For how long does a disaster remain alive in the community thoughts ?

How much can it modify behaviours, conducts, social relationships and lifestyles?

In the global communication era, all disasters merge in the lounge of our houses and create a disturbing sense of precariousness and global danger.

In Chinese language the word “crisis” is written putting together the ideogram meaning “hazard” with the one meaning “opportunity”.

Disasters represent terrible, shocking events, but they are also the occasion to learn from eventual mistakes in order to avoid their recurrence in the future. To make this possible it is necessary to build a sort of “memory of the crisis”.

When we live such an extreme experience as a wide disaster, suddenly the protection which save us from thinking too often to precariousness and human limits is broken. All references are lost and all defences fall down like the houses of XX September street in Aquila city.

While facing a disaster, beyond mistakes and human errors, a component running off our control remains. This part of unpredictability and contingency puts us in front of our vulnerability and downgrades the ideas of omnipotence and full certainty.
