Two continents and two generations in the event organized by MOTUS in collaboration with Castelnuovo Berardenga City Council and with the support of Sezione Soci di Siena Unicoop Firenze and International Art Council of Singapore.
On Sunday 11 June the Alfieri Theatre of Castelnuovo Berardenga will host “VERSO IL FUTURO”, an international event during which the MOTUS Company, the Singaporeans dancers directed by Susan Yeung How Wah and young dancers from Siena and Castelnuovo Berardenga will share the stage .
The MOTUS Company will present “Culture”, a production project supported by the Tuscany Region, choreography by Simona Cieri and directed by Rosanna Cieri, in which the dancers Veronica Abate, Martina Agricoli, Andrè Alma, Simona Gori and Mattia Solano will underline the importance of cultural differences, without which the world would be a terribly boring place.
Subsequently, Susan Yeung How Wah, a young promising Asian choreographer, lecturer at LASALLE College of the Art, and awarded with the Young Artist Award in Singapore in 2010, will present the National Premiere of “Investigation 1.2: Degeneration. Regeneration “. A work inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s words about “birth and death, life and decay, degeneration and regeneration are all manifestations of this unity.” Susan Yeung How Wah’s choreography will be performed by Mohamad Sufri Juwahir and Sheriden Newman who will dance in interaction with Russell Morton’s dance-film “Silent lines of his lips”. The dance-film has already received many awards in Asia and, after the premiere at Castelnuovo Berardenga, will be presented at the “Anima Mundi” Festival during the 57th Venice Biennale of Art.
At the end of the event, the students of the Centro Internazionale d’Arte of Siena together with some young dancers from Castelnuovo Berardenga, who have attended the intensive stage at the Centro Internazionale d’Arte, will perform the multimedia dance show “WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD “choreographed by Simona Cieri. About fourty young dance students will be on the stage of the Alfieri to remind us, in this particular historical moment, that the salvation and care of our planet is an indispensable priority.
