“DIS-CRIMINE” BY MOTUS
AT THE ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM OF THE WOODLANDS
It will be a magical night on Thursday, August 24, at the Ethnologic Museum of the Woodland in Orgia (Sovicille, Siena) when the ancient trees surrounding the small museum will shine with Andrea Rellini’s cello music and the show DIS-CRIMINE of the MOTUS Company.
The show is included in the program of Sovicille Summer Festival, realized by Sovicille City Council in collaboration with Fondazione Toscana Spettacolo onlus and supported by Banca CRAS.
The work that MOTUS presents at 9.30 pm, initially planned at the Montarrenti Castle and subsequently transferred for technical reasons at the Ethnologic Museum of the Woodland in Orgia , denounces all kinds of discrimination, from racial to gender discriminations, from religious to political discriminations. MOTUS work’s is inspired by the work of Nidaa Badwan, a Palestinian photographer and artist, that on November 19, 2013, decided to lock herself in her room for 14 months to protest against Hamas soldiers who refused to recognize her right to be a woman and an artist. MOTUS brings on stage strong references to the works of Badwan but also the representation of fears and prejudices always linked to discrimination. Performed by Veronica Abate, Martina Agricoli, André Alma, Ilaria Fratantuono, Simona Gori and Mattia Solano, the choreography of Simona Cieri on Andrea Rellini’s wonderful music goes in deep and reveals the contradictions of a world that wraps around itself, raising real and virtual walls , without perceiving that everything could change from one moment to the next turning the discriminators into discriminates. The show is a warning for those who, in the name of a foolish truth, judge everything that does not fall within the established rules, and it is, at the same time, an appeal “to be not alone and more alone”, as mentioned in show booklet.
“DIS-CRIMINE” is part of the three-year production project of the MOTUS Company supported by the Tuscany Region and of the Artistic Residence Project of the Company in Sovicille.
