Rendez-vous is a merciless vision about the modern man that, in the unbridled run to technology, he lost his role of user of services, but he become slave of them, are these e-mails, fax, telephones, televisions or every other electronic mean. We stay vacant in front of a screen deluding us to be in contact with the whole world, but how much small, available, known it becomes the globe, so much unrecognizable, immense, unknown it becomes our city, our neighbor, our family. Dance and theater photograph this realty.
The scene is thin, black background, white soft light. Everything goes to accent the loneliness of the dancer with the computer, but also that one of the other dancers, that often exhibit themselves in isolated dances, almost to steal the scene: not that one of the stage, but that one of the ‘chat’. Thanks to their cleverness, the protagonists seem to turn into the various feelings, many emotions, many stereotyped attitudes that accompany a discussion at the computer, a phone call, a discussion at distance.
It is not easy to show in dance but the directors Rosanna and Simona Cieri (the last one also dancer), they excellently succeed in it. By the way, we underline the direct scene of a personal computer that devours the user and the sublime passage of the ‘meeting to the dark’ with a flower buttonhole as a sign of recognition, that it turns the stage into a bloom lawn, with flowers never the same and with the man that in this way he is destined to never meet his half, in a sort of modern and virtual Symposium of Platone.
