Wednesday 11 January is the start date for the new 2017 edition of Move Off Festival, organized by MOTUS in collaboration with Comune di Siena and Fondazione Toscana Spettacolo.
Three unmissable events included in the theatre season of Rinnovati Theatre in Siena (Italy), whith international artists come together to make us reflect on issues that closely affect our society.
Given the success of 2016 edition, the Company proposes a multidisciplinary approach, hosting live musicians and high quality dance , experiencing interactions and new languages, with the clear objective to open the shows not only to the public interested in the art of dancing, but also to those who love music and theater.
The first event, Wednesday, January 11, hosts the PROJECT EUROPE-ASIA, which brings on stage two international companies: the German-Taiwanese company Double C and the Odyssey Dance Theatre main Company from Singapore.
The Double C Company, coming from Wuppertal, the German home city of Pina Bausch, presents two works signed by choreographer Chun-Hsien Wu from Taiwan. The first work, entitled “Luftstruktur” inspired by the music of Avro Part, “Spiegel im Spiegel”, sees on stage the dancer Elena Kofina and two musicians Ulrike Nahmmacher and Florence Millet playing live, while the second work, entitled “My Funny Valentine” and performed by Chun-Hsien Wu, is inspired by Chinese calligraphy and TaiChi.
In the second part of the show, the welcome return to Siena of the Odyssey Dance Theatre main Company from Singapore, with the new show “Wow! Merlion “a collaboration of Danny Tan, artistic director and choreographer of the ODT, with the eminent visual artist Chieu Shuey Fook on the occasion of the celebration for the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of Singapore. “Wow! Merlion “is about the sensibility of the people of Singapore, by staging a series of Asian icons in which the dance is integrated with music and other forms of visual art.
On January 12, the Festival will host “ARCH“, a show created by the artists in Residency at the International Art Center, the two Russian choreographers-dancers Tanya Khabarova, founder of Derevo and award-winning at the Edinburgh Festival, and Lidia Kopina of the Phiysical Theatre Laboratory company from Moscow . The two choreographers explore women archetype, from the past to the present days with their relentless movement, their games, their hugs, their struggles with shadows and reflections.
The third evening, Friday, January 13 , at Rinnovati Theatre , is dedicated to “THIRD MOVEMENT“, a national premiere of the MOTUS Company. The performance, created in collaboration with the musicians Roberto Nannetti, guitarist, composer, arranger and jazz teacher, and Renata Lacko, violinist belonging to the Hungarian school, is choreographed by Simona Cieri and performed by Veronica Abate, Martina Agricoli, Andrè Alma, Maurizio Cannalire, Simona Gori.
All shows are at Rinnovati Theatre (Siena, Italy, Piazza Il Campo1) and will start at 9.15 p.m.
