The 2023 edition of the Estate Fiesolana Festival hosts the national premiere of the show “IMMEMORI”, new production of the MOTUS Company created with the support of the Tuscany Region, on Friday, July 21, at 9:15 PM.
A work entirely dedicated to memory as a value to be preserved and maintained as “a common goodness of humanity.” Remembering is considered as an act of high value, to be passed on to new generations, to allow maintainance of hope and to prevent the repetition of mistakes done in the past. This aligns with Luis Sepulveda’s assertion that “people without memories are people without future.”
MOTUS decides to bring on stage the Memory in this particular historical period, marked by new wars and conflicts threatening the international stability and the survival of million people. The concept is expressed through choreography by Simona Cieri to music by various composers and performed by Martina Agricoli, Paloma Biagioli, Giovanni Consoli, Roberta Morello, and Mattia Solano. The direction, as in all works of the Company, is overseen by the sisters Rosanna and Simona Cieri.
Onstage, the violence and aggression of the past are easily confused with those of today, pulling the audience into a suspended world where cruelty and oppression remain constant. The Memory which is the basis of history and civic duty, always hangs on the gestural narrative with its powerful ability to connect generations and to pacify the world, transforming action into fluid movements. In the end, the warning to stay vigilant remains, because arrogance and manipulation, leveraging ignorance, can at any moment dull and redirect memory, rewriting history, and once again dragging humanity toward oblivion.
