DANCE AND PHOTOGRAPHY TO CELEBRATE THE ROOTS OF PEACE AND JUSTICE OF THE TUSCAN PEOPLE

“Toscana Accogliente” is a project of MOTUS in collaboration with the Municipality of Monteroni d’Arbia and with the support of the Tuscany Regional Council, to celebrate the Festa della Toscana recalling the founding principles of this anniversary. On November 30, 1786, Tuscany adopted a new penal code in which, for the first time in the world, the death penalty was abolished: the Festa della Toscana is aimed to celebrate that extraordinary event and to affirm the commitment to the promotion of human rights, peace and justice, as constitutive elements of the identity of Tuscany.

The “Toscana Accogliente” project includes a photographic exhibition against the death penalty and a show.

The photographic exhibition “DEI DELITTI E DELLE PENE” by Carlo Pennatini collects a series of shots of some shows of the MOTUS Company that denounce the barbarism of the death penalty, of violence and of torture. It will be opened on Sunday 16 December at 4:00 p.m. at the Sala delle Macine in Monteroni d’Arbia (Via Siena, 12). “If the photographs have a terrible truthfulness, if they testify the expressive suggestion of the dancers, if the observer identifies himself in the drama of the reality-fiction of the theatre, – says the artist – then I will have been able to portray the dance of the MOTUS Company and the damnation, the war, the violence, the torture and the inhumanity of death penalty “. The exhibition will be open to the public from December 16th to 22nd, when the show “Sostantivo Plurale” of the MOTUS Company will be presented at the Teatro Supercinema in Monteroni d’Arbia at 9.30 pm. The show celebrates the fundamental value of dialogue between different cultures, the prerequisite for the creation of a fair and inclusive society in which the rights of everyone are guaranteed. After all, Culture is the result of influences and contaminations accurred over time.

“Sostantivo Plurale”, with choreography by Simona Cieri and directed by Rosanna and Simona Cieri, is presented to the public in an enriched version interpreted by the dancers Martina Agricoli, André Alma, Ilaria Fratantuono and Mattia Solano and by Simona Cieri herself.

All events are free admission.
