On Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 5:00 PM, the “Aperitivi in danza” festival, organized by MOTUS at the Centro Internazionale d’Arte (Via Mencattelli 5/7, Siena), features a rich dance program with three performances preceded by a vernissage. The event is part of the “Notte Rossa dei Circoli Arci della Toscana”.
The exhibition “Mouldy” by artist Vladimir Pi, is a tribute to the impermanence and transience, because everything is destined for deterioration and entropic transformation. Vladimir Pi’s unique artistic research is based on a surrealist process that uses photography as a subject upon which to imprint the creative act, as the artist explains: “I sprinkle the photos with various molds, yeasts, saliva, and water, which are my palette and my painting tools. Then I cover them with glass and let them mutate for months (or even years). The microorganisms and water attack the photographic paper and alter its shape, message, and language. By killing the original, I create a new subject, revealing new forms and landscapes. If I like the result, I scan it and, without making any post-production changes, print it on large-format canvas.” Vladimir Pi, born Vladimiro Pelliciardi, is a well-rounded artist who expresses himself not only through the visual arts (a field in which he also produces multimedia shows) but also ranges from music to screenwriting and directing. His works have been exhibited in Bologna, Rome, Lecce, and various towns in Tuscany and are present in many private collections.
The exhibition opening will be followed by three dance performances.
“Respiro” by Compagnia Petranuradanza is performed by Konstyantyn Hryhor’yev and Giulia Morandi, with music by Philip Glass, choreography and direction by Salvatore Romania and Laura Odierna. The work, produced by Megakles Ballet with the support of MIC and Assessorato Turismo Sport Spettacolo Regione Sicilia, is based on a choreographic research on the essentiality of breathing, not as a mere mechanical act, but as vital energy. Breathing is, in fact, the first act of our existence, which then continues punctuated by its rhythm. It is Alpha and Omega, beginning and end. Breathing constitutes a point of union and exchange between the conscious and the unconscious, between instinct and reason, between heart and brain. “Beyond right and wrong, there is a garden. It is there that I will wait for you.” This is the hope evoked.
“WORK-IN-PROGRESS” choreographed by Simona Cieri, marks the first research project on which the MOTUS Company’s upcoming productions will be based, and is performed by Martina Agricoli, Ilaria Fratantuono, and Roberta Morello.
“Gli Indistinti Confini,” directed and choreographed by Irene Stracciati, with the collaboration of Atopos danzatori e attori, is inspired by Ovid’s masterpiece, Metamorphoses, and presents us with a tale of events that unfold rapidly and simultaneously. The poet’s tense is always the present, and it shows us how all the “things” in the world are interconnected and nourish each other in an extraordinary transformation: “…flora, fauna, the mineral world, the firmament encompass in their common substance what we are accustomed to considering human, psychological, and moral.” Italo Calvino
The event will end with a buffet, to allow the artists and the public to interact in a convivial atmosphere.
