On Friday, November 14th, at 8:30 pm, the Teatro Area Nord in Naples hosts “IMMEMORI” a show by the MOTUS Company against all wars, entirely dedicated to memory as a common good of humanity.
The event is the only stage in Campania of the “Cessate il Fuoco” project, created by MOTUS and supported by Otto per Mille funds from the Waldensian Church.
The project aims to raise awareness through art about nonviolence to build a culture of peace, with a particular attention to younger generations. For this reason, a matinée for students is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on November 14th, preceded by a meeting/workshop on the themes addressed in the show.
The show, produced with the support of the Tuscany Region, directed by Rosanna and Simona Cieri, with choreography by Simona Cieri, is performed by Martina Agricoli, Ilaria Fratantuono, Roberta Morello, Mattia Solano and Eleonora Pucci. “IMMEMORI” explores the need for “memory maintenance” as a necessary and indispensable exercise in creating a collective identity. “In 1945, all nations said ‘never again’ to war” says Simona Cieri, the Company’s choreographer, “and founded the United Nations with the specific aim of preventing future conflicts. But this wasn’t enough. From Ukraine to the Gaza Strip, from Iran to Sudan, images of war arrive daily. And these are just the conflicts we talk about, because there are many more invisible wars in the world. It’s clear that humanity has too quickly forgotten the commitment it made in 1945”.
In “IMMEMORI”, the viewer is drawn into a world suspended outside of time, where cruelty and oppression remain unchanged, despite the passing of the years and changing conditions. Memory, the foundation of history and civic duty, rises above gestural narrative, with its powerful ability to unite generations and bring peace to the world, transforming action into fluid movements. In the final scene, the quote from the movie “2001: A Space Odyssey,” directed and produced in 1968 by Stanley Kubrick, sounds like a warning to remain vigilant, because arrogance and exploitation, taking advantage of ignorance, can at any moment attenuate and redirect Memory, rewriting its contours and forcing humanity to rewrite its own history.
The event is part of the AREA NORD IN FESTIVAL 2025 – ARENA CIRCUS program.
