Starting from the French Revolution, the idea of \u201cequality\u201d (egalit\u00e8) was used as the basis of a global philosophic discussion that originated many changes in the management of the nations.
\nAt the beginning, it was a matter of social distribution of economic resources within one state but, specially after the Second World War, it became evident that the dibate could be enlarged including differences between regions and countries.
\nMoreover the concept of equality was extended to individual problems (i.e. equality between men and women) and involved million people and a large number of populations in the world.
\nSociology analises the discussion about poverty, welfare, equality, ethics, rights, distribution of resources and possibilities, involving the core concept of \u201cneeds\u201d (psycological, social, economical, cultural and environmental needs).
\nIn this sense, the new meaning of the term \u201cequality\u201d involves the ability of a society to govern itself without putting at risk the development opportunities of the others.
\nEquality becomes very close to justice and it can not be applied without tolerance and acceptance of diversities.
\nDespite of all theory on equality, in the contemporary society a widespread inequality is still the practice.<\/p>\n

And Justice is blind.<\/p>\n
