The new technologies communicated through the dance at the “CHNOPS” show by Miozzo/Magrini produced by MOTUS

A National Premiere at the “Move Off” Festival organized by MOTUS in collaboration with Castelnuovo Berardenga City Council

The second appointment of “Move Off”, international contemporary dance festival, organized by the MOTUS Company in collaboration with Castelnuovo Berardenga City Council and with the support of ChiantiBanca, hosts on 20 April at 9 PM at Teatro Alfieri in Castelnuovo Berardenga (Tuscany, Italy) the National Premiere of “CHNOPS” – a show of dance and new media art created by the Miozzo/Magrini Company and produced by MOTUS.

The work is the result of some choreographic residencies at the International Art Center in Siena within the “Choreographic Residences” project and at ALDES / SPAM! – network for contemporary arts, with the technical-scientific support of the Laboratorio Segnali ed Immagini of ISTI-CNR in Pisa.

The name of the show “CHNOPS” is an acronym of the fundamental elements of life: Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Phosphorus, Sulphur. In fact, the work of Miozzo / Magrini presents a “somato-medial” path that merges interactive movement, image and sound, starting from a dystopian scientific laboratory to undertake a exploration that involves all senses. Continuously oscillating between different visual and temporal scales, “CHNOPS” analyzes and highlights the continuous mutations of life. Its timeless aesthetic disintegrates, agglomerates and constantly reconfigures known and less known references, engaging the audience at multiple levels.

Marianna Miozzo, dancer and choreographer, and Massimo Magrini, researcher and electronic musician, started a collaboration in 2022 to explore interaction between movement and digital arts, with the aim of embodying an imaginary emerging from this synergy. Together, they developed installations, performances and training projects. Their research also embraces the interest in a retro-futurist aesthetic giving life to a hybrid and timeless experience. The body, instead of being at the center as a virtuos performer, rather becomes an element of dialogue and transformation within the fabric of the work. In addition, Marianna and Massimo conduct workshops and seminaries on the relationship between interactive sound and movement.

On the second part of the evening, MOTUS presents “Work in Progress”, a small taste of its latest production about envy, which will premiere on 22 June at Estate Fiesolana Festival (Firenze, Italy). The show with choreography by Simona Cieri and direction by Simona and Rosanna Cieri, is interpreted by Martina Agricoli, Paloma Biagioli, Ilaria Fratantuono, Roberta Morello, and Mattia Solano.

The next appointment of “Move Off “is scheduled for 12 May  with the company Marcozzi Contemporary Theater from Berlin (Germany) and the company Atacama (Italy/Chile).

The entrance fee is € 12,00 (reduced € 10,00).
