In the crowd map of choreography in Tuscany, the territory of Siena is strongly expressing a productive activity unimaginable shortly ago. Thanks to whom, as the sisters Simona and Rosanna Cieri of the MOTUS company,work with passion since many years to impose an idea of dance that exceeds the ancient and reassuring boundaries of entertainment [...] with stubborn engagement, determination and devotion they show that dance is a "traumatic" art able to investigate and also to interpret strong and sometimes difficult problems, because difficult it is life. With a clear and articulated choreographic dictionary, fed of classical language blended with contemporary influences, MOTUS declines an uncomfortable and "skinned" human comedy. The second appreciation of the Italian Republic President, Giorgio Napolitano, comes unexpected to the Motus Company for the work “Della tua carne” on stage tomorrow at 21,15 in the theatre season at the Rinnovati Theatre. A very valuable appreciation, that follows that one received on last March for “Iris under the sea”, the work dedicated to migrant women.
Dedicated to the young Italian-American Derek Rocco Barnabei, sentenced to death and executed on 14th September 2000, the show is a denounce against what is commonly defined as judicial murder. The Motus production, in collaboration with the Barnabei Foundation, supported by Siena Municipality and Tuscany Region, has a very original approach to the matter of death penalty and torture. Using symbols and metaphors it discusses human right negation, peculiar of condemned people conditions, with sensitivity, never falling in the unfounded satisfaction of violence. The choreography created by Simona Cieri builds a pleasant and essential work made up of lights and shadows to show that dance can be the vehicle of messages with high moral value.

Derek becomes the emblem of the multitude of people locked in and removed from consciousness who consider legal to plan a judicial murder. For that reason the show goes further and it enters into the dark world of the torture, where the crime is not so different from the one of his executioner.

Back from a very successful tour in Romania, where they participated at "Man in fest", one of the most interesting contemporary dance event in Europe ... their dance is a discipline where movement means communication, a way to tell to the audience about hard and complex subjects. Great satisfaction for the dancers of the Motus company just coming back from the tour in Bosnia Erzegovina where they have received the international prize Teatarfest with the show "Borders".. The opinion of the jury composed by critics, teachers of dramaturgy, directors and experts, present at the performance in the Sloga Theatre, the historical theatre of Sarajevo founded by Goran Bregovic, was unanimous to attribute the prize for "the cohesion of the company and the wealth of the perfectly integrated choreography in a multimedia context."
