On Thursday, December 14 at 8:30 PM, the last event of the year before the Christmas break for the ‘Aperitivi in Danza’ series, organized by MOTUS at the International Center of Art (Via Mencattelli 5\/7, Siena) features the photography exhibition ‘MEN WOMEN ME’ by Greta Sartarelli and Elisa Santarelli, and the contemporary dance performance ‘Anime’ (Souls)- the latest production of the Atacama Company from Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘MEN WOMEN ME’ emerges as a significant cultural revolution achieved through overcoming the male-female, man-woman binary, which is deeply ingrained in our society.<\/p>\n

Public restrooms, gym changing rooms, clothing stores, and children\u2019s playgrounds are taken as paradigms of sexist binary and clear gender separation. These places are seen as environments where the opposition between man and woman is distinctly marked by universally recognized aesthetic, iconographic, and chromatic codes that over time have acquired a true identity value.<\/p>\n

To overcome this binary the excibitions stimulates reflections on the existence of a fluid or non-binary identity, as a continuum between the polarities of man and woman, not entirely identifiable with either.<\/p>\n

However, the existence of a neutral gender does not equate to the absence of a defined identity.<\/p>\n

According to the author, Greta Sartarelli, the aim of this work is to give cultural and social dignity to identity dimension that cannot be considered a deviation from the norm but a condition of human existence equal to each other.<\/p>\n

Graduated in Cultural Heritage Sciences with a focus on art, cinema, music, and theater, Greta Sartarelli is a graphic designer, photographer, and video maker. As a graphic specialist, she has worked for companies such as Emilio Pucci, Aldente Paris ADV, Blanc Agency \u2013 Paris, and LVMH Groups.<\/p>\n

After the vernissage, the Atacama Company that has been founded in 1997 by Patrizia Cavola (choreographer and dancer) and Ivan Truol (choreographer, dancer, and actor) presents an excerpt from the performance ‘Anime’ (Souls). The work highlights the concept of LIVING, starting from the relationship that humans establish with space and simultaneously studying the impact that the place history and characteristics have on the person moving through it. Living as an essential condition of human existence that is not just about being present but, above all, about being there, where the memory of the place meets the memory of the body. A creation that finds its identity in a site-specific mode, shaping each time according to the characteristics of the space in which it is realized. Conceived and directed by Patrizia Cavola and Ivan Truol, the performance is interpreted by Nicholas Baffoni, Alberto Bargnesi, Marco Cirignotta, Valeria Loprieno, Giada Manno, and Camilla Perugini. The show is produced with the support of MIC (Ministry of Culture)\u2013 Dipartimento Spettacolo , Lazio Region, in co-production with Paesaggi del Corpo Festival.<\/p>\n

During the evening, as usual, a buffet is offered.<\/p>\n
